Getting Started on ClassDojo:
We have worked hard at Brackley C of E Junior School to find ways of keeping teachers connected with their class as we work through the current pandemic. Since Easter teachers have been using a fabulous communication platform called ClassDojo to set work for your child/children. ClassDojo can be used on any iOS device, Android device, tablet or computer. It is a really lovely way of staying connected with your child’s teacher and their virtual classroom.
In September we decided to continue to use ClassDojo as our remote learning platform. This is important because it enables us to be able to provide ‘Continuous Education’ should we find ourselves in another temporary lockdown, whether this be National, Regional, Local, School or at a personal level. Every week, on a Monday, we will upload the English and Maths Curriculum we will be following in school on to your child's/children's ClassDojo page. We have decide that this year our English and Maths curriculum will be broadly in line with Oak National Academy. This is not homework. This is not if your child is ill. This is if you find your child has to isolate at home due to Covid19. It will enable them to continue to access the high quality teaching taking place in the classroom via high quality video lessons whilst ensuring that your child can continue with their education whatever the circumstances.
Oak National Academy
Oak National Academy has been set up to produce a full curriculum with linked videos that can be used at home. In the event of remote education being required teachers will provide you with links to the relevant Oak Academy lessons to use with your children that match to the curriculum being taught in school. These will be uploaded to ClassDojo on a Monday morning for the week ahead.
Times Table Rockstars
All children have login detail for Times Tables Rockstars - This is in the front of the reading diary which was sent home at the beginning of the year. This is a fantastic website that supports children in learning their times tables. Once your child has logged in they should play in Garage mode. This has an automatic training mode which starts with easy times tables and as the children get them correct it adds in more and more times tables. This means that it is pitched at the right level for the children so they're able to practise getting quicker at tables that they know rather than struggling over many that they don't know.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
