Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We are delighted to announce, following a successful year of PE, in terms of participation, competition and inclusion, that Brackley Junior School has been awarded the School Games Silver Mark. We look forward to continued success as we continue our journey towards gold this year.
As a faith school we are constantly thinking about how we put the teachings of Jesus into action and how to be a good neighbour. This Christmas we would like to support the work of Samaritan Purse and the Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal. Please think about donating a small, new gift which a child in need may like to receive this Christmas. It must be small enough to fit inside a shoe box and could be something to love, something to play with, something to keep you clean, something to help you learn or something to keep you warm(hat, scarf or gloves) Please visit https://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/how-to-pack-a-shoebox/ to find clear details about suitable items to send. Each class hopes to fill several boxes and gifts can be brought into school and placed in the class box from Monday 17th October until Wednesday 2nd November. Thank you for helping us to think of others, especially at Christmas.
Please have something Christmassy ready to put gifts in from Monday and encourage the children to support the work of Samaritans Purse. As gifts come in you may need to prompt the children with some ideas so that you have a balanced box ie nobody wants to receive 15 toothbrushes! You may wish to choose which age range you’d like to collect for and boy or girl.
Please gather your gifts and we may even do some sharing or swapping amongst classes after half term.
Thank you and Happy Christmas!
Thank you to all who attended the Harvest Service on Wednesday 28th September. The children of Mapane School, Zimbabwe, will once again, be delighted with the support and love shown by our whole school community. Thank you for your continued support and for helping us to show Christianity in Action.
The children presented the information below at the service:
"Harvest is a special time of year. It gives us the chance to say thank you to God for all of the gifts that we have. Harvest is also a time to remember and pray for those across the world who do not have as much as we do. Today we especially think of 2 projects that we hold close to our hearts; the work of Operation Christmas Child and our friends in Mapane School.
We will be collecting shoe boxes in school a little later in the term to send to children across the world. As we fill them with gifts it is a small way for us to make a difference and show the world that we care. Filling a shoe box for Operation Christmas Child puts our understanding of Jesus’ teaching into action.
At Brackley Junior School we are lucky to have made special friends with children from a school in Zimbabwe in Africa called Mapane. Over a number of years we have sent gifts of money and resources to help the children learn. This letter was sent recently from Kudzi at Mapane school. It shows just how grateful the children are for our gifts.
Our friend Gill Knight from Open the Book whose daughter works for family Impact in Zimbabwe has told us that life is very tough for the children in Mapane right now. This is because it has not rained enough and the crops have failed. Food is scarce and the children are hungry. So, as we present the gifts of money in our harvest envelopes today we also offer our prayers. We sing Praise and Thanksgiving and especially pray for rain in Mapane".
