A Message from Colin Harber, Chair of Governors

Thank you for taking an interest in the Governing Body at Brackley C of E Junior School.

We are fortunate to have a proactive, committed and diverse group of Governors who bring a wealth of experience from many walks of life. Together, we work to ensure the school continues to thrive for the benefit of our community, our staff, and most importantly, our children.

What We Do

The Governing Body acts as a critical friend to the school. While we don’t manage the day-to-day running (that’s the responsibility of the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team) we make sure the school is well-led, well-resourced and moving confidently in the right direction.

Our role focuses on three key areas:

Setting the Vision and Strategic Direction

We help shape and monitor the School Development Plan (SDP), which outlines the school’s annual goals and priorities. We meet regularly to review progress, offer challenge and support, and ensure that the plan reflects our shared Christian values and long-term vision for the school.

Holding Leaders to Account

Governors review pupil performance data, staffing, and curriculum outcomes to make sure every child is supported to reach their potential. We ask questions, celebrate success, and explore how we can strengthen teaching, learning, and wellbeing across the school.

Overseeing Financial Performance

We ensure that school funds are managed responsibly and used where they will make the biggest difference whether that’s improving facilities, supporting learning interventions, or investing in staff development.

Being Part of School Life

Governors regularly visit the school and take part in events such as services, fairs, and class visits. These experiences help us see first-hand the school’s ethos of "Life in all its fullness" in action and remind us why our work matters, to ensure the happiness and success of every child.
