We consider equality when making decisions, developing policies, planning the curriculum, monitoring attendance and attainment, supporting pupils and families, recruiting and supporting staff, and ensuring access to school activities, facilities and opportunities.

We recognise that pupils may experience barriers for a range of reasons, including disability, special educational needs, disadvantage, family circumstances and other protected characteristics. We use school information and pupil outcomes to identify where differences exist and take action to reduce barriers to participation, attendance and achievement.

Our Equality Objectives 2026–2030

1. Improve attendance for disadvantaged pupils

To reduce the attendance gap between pupils eligible for Pupil Premium and their peers by identifying barriers to attendance early and providing timely, personalised support to pupils and families.

We will monitor:

• attendance of Pupil Premium pupils compared with non-Pupil Premium pupils
• persistent absence rates
• the impact of individual attendance support and interventions
• patterns of absence so that support can be targeted quickly.

2. Improve access and outcomes for pupils with SEND and disabilities

To ensure pupils with SEND and disabilities are able to participate fully in learning, enrichment activities and wider school life through high-quality adaptive teaching, appropriate reasonable adjustments and targeted support.

We will monitor:

• attainment and progress of pupils with SEND
• participation in clubs, trips and wider opportunities
• pupil and parent feedback
• the effectiveness of reasonable adjustments and interventions.

3. Improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils

To reduce the attainment gap between pupils eligible for Pupil Premium and their peers, particularly in reading, writing and mathematics, through high-quality teaching, timely intervention and effective use of the Pupil Premium.

We will monitor:

• attainment and progress of disadvantaged pupils at each assessment point
• the effectiveness of intervention and additional support
• access to pastoral and wider support
• the impact of Pupil Premium spending on pupil outcomes.

4. Promote respect, inclusion and understanding across the curriculum

To ensure that pupils encounter a diverse range of people, cultures, families and experiences through the curriculum and wider school life, and that pupils understand the importance of equality, respect and challenging discrimination.

We will monitor:

• curriculum provision
• pupil voice
• behaviour and prejudice-related incidents
• participation in collective worship, PSHE and wider personal development opportunities.

Monitoring and review

Our equality information will be reviewed annually. Progress towards these objectives will be monitored regularly by school leaders and governors, and the objectives will be reviewed at least every four years.
